The Simplicity Reset

Aug 7, 2025

You know that feeling of being stuck and disoriented in your creative process?

Yeah, me too.

I get it every few weeks.

Things start feeling hard, complicated, heavy.

Here's the truth: there's no one to blame but me. I'm the sole creator of this mess.

But I know how to fix it.

By going through the exercise of simplicity.

If you genuinely think about what you want to accomplish, there's a simple path to it.

Fewer but better things to work on.

Instead of focusing on 10 things at once, there's a simple answer: focus on one thing at a time.

All of a sudden, you move from overwhelmed, confused, and stuck to clear, easy, and focused.

Our minds tend to overcomplicate things. Because we want to be sophisticated, right?

But this serves no one. True excellence comes from simplicity. And ironically, it's hard to achieve sometimes.

If you're stuck, feeling heavy, and lost, go through the exercise of simplifying everything.

What's essential right now—in this moment, at your point in life and career—should fit on a small Post-it note.

If it doesn't, you're overcomplicating things.

The creative process isn't complicated. But we make it so. And it's in our power to go through the exercise of simplicity to reclaim the playfulness and lightness that happens when you enter creative flow.

This is the task of the creative.
