Figuring shit out

Jan 30, 2026

The most useful skill you can develop is figuring shit out.

You don't learn this at school or university. Schools teach you to solve well-defined problems. Life hands you ill-defined ones. You learn this skill by acting in the real world—by facing uncertainty, imperfection, resistance, ambiguity.

The response to this can't be waiting for a perfectly framed path to follow. It has to be developing the assertiveness to find a way. To get things done. To figure shit out.

If you get good at this—and it starts with the small things—you become unstoppable. Failure becomes just one more way that didn't work, and information about what to try next. Not defeat.

This isn't just how you get the life you want. It's also how you create real value. The person who can figure things out becomes the one others rely on—and that's where opportunity concentrates.

Go figure shit out.
