no one talks about how confusing it is to grow up in your twenties right now.
infinite things to do. infinite versions of a life you could live. infinite things going on in the world.
past generations would have killed for the opportunities we have today. but opportunity has a darker side.
with all that choice, it becomes hard to know who you truly are.
what do you actually want out of life?
not the version your parents taught you. not the version your friends look up to. not the version that gets likes on social media.
peel back the layers and it gets confusing. the self-images that once defined you no longer feel real. you sit with that, alone, wondering who you are meant to be.
this is a problem of privilege. but that does not make it less true.
here is what i remind myself:
there is no magic pill. no silver bullet.
there is only you.
more in control than you think. less in control than you think.
that is the paradox.
i hope you start trusting yourself more. your journey. the version of life you want — the one that feels a little scary right now.
i hope you win the battle against your fears.
there is a path. but it requires change. your routines. your friends. the stories you tell yourself.
there is another side of your life. the unlived version that gives you everything you wanted. that is the true you. the one you forgot while trying to become an adult.
it takes courage. time. self-acceptance. looking within and trusting that following your heart will someday make sense. the dots will connect.
start small. take the first step. do not let the world beat you down and hold you in place.
a quote from james hollis:
"a life managed by fear is a life unlived."
what is your heart telling you?
